Holi : The views on this festival are as diverse as its colors. Think of a locality full of harmony and peace, people loving to see each other's faces, share sweets and happiness with them, playing colors in fun, clean and hygienic way, keeping in mind there is no vulgar wastage of natural resources, it's perfectly fine to play holi.
The other scene is - people want to take revenge on others by smearing them with what not, in the name of holi, thus depleting water even more, not enjoying what they do and not leaving others to their state by dragging them to play, indulging in exchange of unwelcome words and thoughts... it's perfectly unnecessary to play holi.
Whether we help parched areas by not playing holi? It's the same question as whether we help malnourished children by not wasting food.
To me, festival is when we bring smile on the faces of the smile deprived.
